NEW FOR 2007 - FREEFORM GOES MODULAR (see below)
Freeform Saddles are an excellent example of saddling in the 21st Century. Produced in Italy by Omnika, a small family run company, the saddles are made with the finest materials and craftsmanship Italy has to offer. Omnika is the first saddler to utilize the very modern process of foam injection moulding technology to produce a complete saddle, not just small parts of it - a true revolution in the world of saddle making. This not only gives Freeform Saddles their quality and feel, but the moulding process ensures symmetry at the core of the saddle and allows the saddles to follow the contours of the horse without relying on the forced shape of a rigid saddle tree.
Their unique structure gives all Freeform saddles a distinct benefit for many horses and riders. The breathable foam core makes the saddles very lightweight at around 7 pounds. The flexibility of these saddles allow the horse complete unrestricted freedom of movement, encouraging them to move as nature intended, while providing a close-contact feel for the rider. This gives both horse and rider a much more comfortable riding experience. Although fully flexible, the saddles have an excellent weight distribution ability making them the ideal compromise between a bareback pad and a treed saddle.
The incorporation of "flexi-front" technology into the front of the seat aids in wither clearance and adjusts automatically with both the movement and shape of the horse.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q – Will the Freeform fit any horse?
A – Most likely. There will never be ONE saddle that can fit all horses, although it’s true that treeless saddles are the most adaptable form of saddle. Without any modifications, treeless saddles are most suited to the wide, short backed, low withered horse. But with judicious padding, they can be used on the leaner, high withered types with equal success.
Q – Will the Freeform suit my horse?
A – Yes, if you look over the options available, you will be able to use the Freeform saddle.
Q – Why would I need extra padding and what sort of padding would I use?
A – Extra padding would only be needed to aid wither and/or spine clearance on high withered horses or those with muscle atrophy. FreeForm USA has done extensive testing with a variety of saddle pads specially designed to work with the FreeForm Saddle, check our saddle options.
Q – Will I need to make any adjustments when my horse changes shape?
A – If the Freeform fits your horse without the need for extra padding, then you won’t need to make any adjustments. The Freeform is totally flexible so will adjust naturally with your horse. If you have the type of horse who needs the extra padding, then the only adjustments that will be needed will be in the padding in the saddle pad.
Q – Do I need to use a special saddle pad?
A – The main criteria is that the saddle pad you use is large enough to extend beyond the edge of the Freeform all around and that the spinal seam is flat. Freeform USA has custom pads available for the Freeform saddles.
Q – Can I use the Freeform on more than one horse?
A – Yes, so long as the horses like it. Pay particular attention to where the girth goes and make sure you have proper wither clearance. See saddle options.
Q – Will the Freeform need any maintenance, such as re-stuffing?
A – No. As the Freeform has no panels, no stuffing is required.
Q – Will I be able to assess the fit/suitability of the Freeform myself?
A – Yes, if you are confident in your abilities. The Freeform does not need “fitting” in the conventional sense. The main criteria are that you have some wither clearance, you don’t place it too far forward and that your horse is happy.
Q – What wither clearance do I need?
A – Once mounted, we like to be able to slip at least one finger in at the pommel. So long as there is clearance, it doesn’t matter how small. We have become used to the 3 finger clearance expected with conventional saddles but this is necessary due to the tree.
Q – Do I need to have the fit of a Freeform assessed periodically as you do with a conventional treed saddle?
A – No.
Q – Will I need to make any adjustments to my riding style?
A – Chances are, if you have been riding for many years in a conventional treed saddle, particularly Endurance, Eventing or Jumping types, then the answer is yes! Due to the too forward placement of the stirrup bars on the majority of treed saddles, many riders have been forced to either sit in a “chair seat” or spend their riding time trying desperately to achieve the ideal “shoulder-hip-heel” alignment. As the stirrup arrangement on the Freeform is totally adjustable, this position can be attained with ease but it will feel foreign to most riders to begin with. Other than this, a light, quiet seat is needed - a deep, driving seat will only cause discomfort to your horse.
Q – How do I assess the right size seat for me?
A – The FreeForm uses English measurements, we are recommending 1” larger than you would normally use.
